Who Are We - Druidworks
Studio
DruidWorks is Jon Brooks
Born 1969 in Nashville, Tennessee
In 1990, I returned home from 3 years in the Army where I was
stationed in Wurzburg Germany. I spent my spare time traveling
and experiencing the culture as much as possible. I utilized every
opportunity to do something different and new. I found myself
all over Europe. This experience helped me gain a lot of my taste
in different types of art and a respect for diversity.
After I returned, I went to community college in Nashville, Tennessee
and earned a Degree in Graphic Design. Which I utilize to it's
fullest everyday. I moved to Jacksonville, Florida where I have
resided since 1995. I have been in the printing industry since
1991. I have worked for many printing companies in Offset printing
as well as Flexographic printing; also agencies and production
houses. I additionally do freelance designed.
In 1998 I took my first Class to learn
the art of creating stained glass.
As a hobby, it was just something to make some window hangers
for friends and myself. I took a piece to give as a trade for
a painting my friend Joe Parker did. Kirk Reber passed his card
along to me when he saw the piece of glass I had made for Joe.
Kirk is the owner of Creative Glassworks at Atlantic Beach, Florida.
I called him and he asked if I was interested in some work. I
told him yes, part time. He taught me the art of Leaded Stained
Glass. Very different from the Foil method I took the class for.
I did work for him off and on for about 3 years, learning and
perfecting my technique.
Since working in the Glass industry
and the Graphics industry I have been able to put together some
interesting things for a portfolio. Graphic Design, Stained Glass,
and recently I have begun to do some metal sculpting with different
metals. Now I have begun to combine all of these elements into
Beautiful Hand made creations. Weather it be Stained glass, Lobby
Art, or Printing, I want to produce the best quality product and
give the best service for everyone I work for.
Thank You,
Jon Brooks
